Noah's Computer Center offers both service and training on virus and spyware removal and protection. Our service department is equipped with the latest tools to safely remove any and all threats, and software packages that will keep you free and clear of all future problems. If you think you may be infected here are a few signs to watch out for: Computer Hangs. Your computer seems to be taking a long time to do a rather simple task. Remember, spyware is a program that runs in the background where you cant see it, and drains most of your computers resources. Ignoring this symptom can lead to this next big problem. Computer Locks Up (Freezes). Your computer is unresponsive and you can't click any thing, that means somthing is completly over powering your computer. Many viruses are made to render your computer useless. Slow Boot-Up. Your machine takes a noticeably longer amount of time to "turn on" than when you first purchased it. Most of todays programs load at startup, so if you have installed a lot of programs and/or have quite a few icons that pop up next to the clock in the bottom right, you may want to think about adding another stick of memory as well. |
Pop-Ups. You are bombarded with a slew of popup windows as soon as you try accessing the internet. Some websites use pop-ups as part of their navigation, but about 95% of pop-ups are unwanted advertisements. Many web browsers and ISPs provide pop-up blocking, but spyware allows pop-ups to pass through their filters. System Error Messages. You are constantly receiving system messages like "Missing DLL File", "Fatal Exception Error", and the infamous "Blue Screen of Death" Almost all of the anti-virus software available takes any infected files that it finds and places it in "Quarantine". This means that it moves the file into a sort of holding tank so that it will not continue to affect your system. However, most of the newer viruses are designed to attack your windows system files, not just a song or a picture. So when your anti-virus software moves that windows system file, your system will not work properly. We at Noah's Computer Center use anti-virus software that "cures" the file. This means that the software is smart enought to safely remove the virus while leaving the important system file completly intact and unharmed. We think it is about time that you, the average user should be able to have the tools and basic knowledge to keep your computer running safely and securely. We are working with people to help them better understand that simple routine maintainence will save them more than just time and money. |
